One person owns your student’s file from the intro call to the last submission. No call center, no rotating team, no re-explaining your student’s situation to someone new each session. Your counselor knows their grades, activities, goals, and deadlines inside and out.
How does the counselor match work?
After the free intro call, we match your student with a counselor based on their academic profile, interests, and target schools — so the person guiding them actually understands the kind of applicant they are and the schools they’re aiming for.
How is this different from other counseling services?
Most programs run every student through the same template: the same checklist, the same essay formulas, the same school-list spreadsheet. PrepStart starts from your student’s actual profile and builds the plan around them — delivered by one dedicated counselor, not a program.
When should we start?
Sooner is easier. Applications open August 1 for the class of 2027, so the summer before senior year is the window to lock the school list and get the personal statement strong. Class of 2028 students who start now shape the profile and activities they’ll be applying with.
Do you help with essays too?
Yes — essay development is a core part of the program: the Common App personal statement, UC Personal Insight Questions, and school-specific supplements. Your counselor coaches the writing in your student’s own voice, and your student writes every word.
How do sessions work?
Online and one-on-one. Your student meets their counselor over video and works in shared documents, so plans, feedback, and revisions live in one place. You book sessions through Calendly and set the pace around your timeline.
